We seek shelter in the coziness of our home, but just how cozy is it? It will soon be getting so cold again, that you can’t even imagine using the air conditioner. It doesn’t even seem that it has been too long since you last used that A/C. But now the big freeze is on the way, and you should ask yourself if you are ready. Does the warmth in your home slip away the moment the furnace cycles off? I have another question for you regarding your heating and cooling usage. Did you like your utility bill in the summer when you ran the A/C all day? I’m sure you won’t like the winter heating bills that you will be creating. However, these simple energy-savings tips can help your heating bill as the winter comes, and the heaters crank up. You should adjust the blinds in your home to allow for the sun to come inside, heating your house naturally. In the wintertime, you should always “let the sunshine in”! Also, it is downright illogical to heat an empty house, so stop doing that. It is wasteful to have your heater on, when no one is home to enjoy the heat. Instead, consider installing a smart thermostat. The new smart thermostats automatically adjust the temperature control to lower heating costs. Use the space heaters that you’ve stashed away up in the attic. Those heaters certainly aren’t going to heat your home from up there in the attic. So go get them down and put those extra heaters to good use.
