From a very young age, my brother was obsessed with taking things apart and putting them back together. No matter what it was, he wanted to know how it worked. His bedroom floor would always be littered with the carnage of the small bits and pieces of his toys, and more often than not, toys that belonged to my brothers and sisters and I. Nothing was safe from his inquiring mind. As he grew, toys were no longer as interested and he wanted to know how things throughout our house worked. He soon became obsessed with our old furnace. Each time my father would take a trip down to the basement to make get the heating system to work again, my brother was right behind him. It was no surprise to any of us when my brother decided to become an HVAC repairman. Upon graduating high school, he joined a program where he learned the ins and outs of repairing heating and cooling systems, installing new furnaces and working on old heating and cooling systems to bring them up to date. Now, all these years later, he has his own HVAC business, where he has a team that installs and repairs heating and cooling systems. One of his favorite parts of the job is going to areas that have been damaged by natural disasters and installing new HVAC systems in homes and businesses. My brother understands how important it is to have an HVAC system and he loves that part of his business is helping people get their heating and cooling systems back up and running.
