It’s not too often that you find small, privately owned bakeries anymore. I own a bakery that has been my family’s business for three generations. Supermarkets and big-box stores have popped up everywhere, even in our town, but the locals know that if they want fresh, homemade baked goods that will truly make your mouth water, they come to my bakery. We have hot, delicious fresh baked donuts ready for the early morning crowd, so that people can come in and grab a pastry before they head to work. We also still bake bread so that it’s fresh out of the oven, both at noon, and just before dinner time when we start to close up shop. We have a few tables and chairs for those that would like to enjoy their baked goods from within my store, and I do everything to keep my customers comfortable with my climate control system, as has been my family’s tradition. In the summer, my air conditioning keeps the shop nice and cool and people like to linger and chat with each other in the store for a while before heading back out into the heat. In the winter in particular, people love the combination of a cozily warmed store and hot, melt-in-your-mouth pastries. I have to say that in my kitchen itself, sometimes business is so good during the winter, that the ovens are running constantly and I barely need to run any heat in there! Keeping my customers in climate controlled comfort is just another reason that we have been in business for so long!
