I don’t mean to sound like I am complaining, because I actually love working at the grocery store. When I first started I just thought it would temporary, part time work until I found something better. It turns out that the pay isn’t bad, but the benefits are really quite good, I get paid days off, and I like what I do, so why not stay and make a career out of it. The only thing about the job I don’t like, and this makes me sound like a crybaby, is cold it is there. I work in the meat counter, which has its own dedicated A/C unit in the back room to keep everything extra cold. Also, I am right outside of the meat freezer, so I don’t even know why the AC is needed here at the counter. I have to wear a coat and gloves all day, sometimes even a scarf, because of those multiple levels of cooling all hitting me at once. When I go home at the end of the day, I never turn on my HVAC system. I haven’t used my central air conditioning at home in many months, which ends up saving me money on my utility bills. If it has been a particularly cold day at work I might ever turn on the heater a little bit, just to help me get rid of the chill. I guess if my biggest complaint about my job is that the AC is too cold, then I should count my blessings and keep punching the clock.
