Having ductwork is a big plus

Having ductwork in your house is a big plus. Ductwork is not cheap, and quickly becomes an unforeseen yet massive expense if lengths of ductwork have to be replaced for whatever reason. I know that I completely came unglued when I was told that rats chewed through several joints in my home’s ductwork, and given an estimate for the replacement of the ducts. Plus, I had to pay for an HVAC technician to come through every three to six months, and thoroughly clean out the entirety of the duct system to ensure there were no hidden piles of dirt and dust, or any “uninvited guests” that shouldn’t have been in there in the first place! When I moved into my second home, I was thankful to learn that the house only used a window-mounted A/C unit! I know how crazy that sounds, but I was so sick of having to clean up the ducts every month, practically. I loved that window A/C unit, as it was positioned in the bedroom of my home. As long as I was in my bedroom, I would be chilled and get the best sleep. Eventually though, the window-mounted A/C unit died on me, and I had a rare opportunity to either buy a new window unit, or try something new altogether. After researching my options online, I found that the best route to take would be a ductless mini-split heating and air conditioning system. As the name implies, this was a split system that didn’t require ducts to work! It was more powerful and functional than a standard window unit, but not as big as a conventional central A/C system. I loved the idea of it, especially since installing these units can be handled by anyone with the proper tools and know-how.
