This is turning into a disaster

I usually take it easy and stay home on the fourth of July. This is because I have three dogs and a cat and they are terrified of fireworks. The kids in my neighborhood just love to light the super loud fireworks all day long and my poor pets are often traumatized by it. This year, I made sure they were comfortable and had their favorite snacks to make them feel a bit better. However, I woke up in the morning to a broken air conditioning system. It was a crazy hot day and temperatures were rising quickly. I could tell my dogs were already miserable from the loud fireworks and now they were sweating and panting without the central air conditioning too. I called an HVAC technician only to learn that their prices were nearly triple due to the holiday. I called a few more local HVAC companies but of course they were all closed due to the holiday and said I would have to wait a few days. I didn’t know what to do. I knew it was going to be a long day without an air conditioning system. After much consideration, I had an idea. I packed a bag, ushered the dogs and cat into my car and drove north to my parent’s house. It was a two hour drive, but I was desperate to be cool again and so were my pets! When I arrived, my dogs ran straight into their house and curled up next to their air conditioning vents. It’s like they knew the plan all along.
