I always wanted to have a hot tub in my house, so when the opportunity arose we had one installed out in our sunroom. We made sure to install flooring that was waterproof even put in a separate shower for people to rinse off before and after using the tub. This was truly a great way to relax at the end of a long day or just to spend time with my girlfriends drinking wine and laughing 4 hours. About a year after it was installed I began to notice some issues with my curtains and with the paint on the walls. It appeared that the constant humidity from the hot tub and the steam was causing an issue and mold was starting to grow in spots. We did have fans in the room to circulate the air but that wasn’t enough to deter the problem so I contacted the HVAC dealer to see about putting in some sort of air conditioning or dehumidifier in that space. During the summer time we would simply leave the windows open and that gave us enough ventilation but as we use the hot tub mainly in the winter time there was no way to do that. The dealer stop by and showed us various options that were available with the one that made the most sense was just to install a ductless system with a dehumidifier. It would be completely separate from our other HVAC system and only take care of that room which was fine with us. Now I can enjoy my hot tub as much as I want without worrying that it’s causing damage to the room itself.
